Grapevine photo locations? - 01-12-2008, 10:48 PM

I am in need of an area to do some outdoor family portraits in Grapevine or close to it. I am not familiar with the area so any help would be appreciated. I checked into the botanical gardens there and i am not willing to pay there prices.
so any help would be appreciated.

Mike

Depends on what the family is looking for, but I'm guessing that there would be some suitable places around Lake Grapevine.

If you are looking for a rural flavor, the Nash Farm might be good. It's just up the street from the Botanic Garden, and as Wes said, lots of possibilities on the lake shore.

Rock Ledge Park in Grapevine Lake offers lake views with a rocky/cliff setting. It's located in the northeast portion of Grapevine lake, just north of the Dam. I frequent there to take sunset photos.

I don't know about permissions but there's probably a number of outdoor opportunities at the Gaylord.

Roland do you have any pics of the area?

Terry I have thought about the Gaylord, but not sure where to find out if there are fees for shooting there.

I saw you were looking for examples shots from around the lake - All of the "lake" shots in this thread were taken around Lake Grapevine on the North side in Twin Coves Park (the others were Deep Ellum):

I really like the Gaylord. Even the indoor shots look like they were taken outside. Parking is $10. There's usually LOTS of people taking photos so I haven't worried about permits. I just keep it low-key and stay out of everyone's way. I have recently discovered that they have a really nice courtyard area with some decent outdoor opportunities. Here are some samples:

Here are my shots on my flickr site:

It doesn't give a lot of overall perspective on possible areas, but it'll give you an idea.
