3...2...1... Blastoff! (rodeo image) - 01-21-2008, 12:57 AM

Went to the rodeo tonight down in Fort Worth with the family. The midway probably had more photographers in it than fair-goer's so I'm hoping some of them are from TPF and will be posting images. There was a lot of opportunity tonight but it was cold and windy.

Anyway, the rodeo was entertaining. Took a few shots and one stood out. This one was taken one-handed as I was holding my son's snow-cone in the other (why he wanted a snow-cone in 40 degree weather is beyond me).

This shot was taken in DX mode and cropped even further. Had to do some post on it to bring out the rider so if it looks too artificial let me know.

I was there, but I was sitting on the nosebleed section furthest from where that horse was.

That's me too! I was third row from the top, Section A which is directly across from the action. That's why this shot is so heavily cropped.

Still looks kinda fake. I don't think I should be editing after midnight (grin).

Pretty nice action fressing shot at 3200 ISO. I wish I can see the rider face a bit more.

Agreed! In this case it was like trying to get a shot across a football field with a 200mm lens using a 5MP camera (DX mode). Just wasn't in the cards.
