Just curious of what those of you who went thoughT about the seminar last night in Dallas?

I left at the break but I though it was OK for $19.00.

I did get a chance to check WHCC's press printed books.

I think it was worth $19. I went to the one in Arlington.
I did learn that for my next outdoor shoot I'm going to bring about 6 assistants

I was disappointed that after all the hype both before the seminar and even at the beginning of the seminar about "getting it done in camera" that there was a LOT of photoshop done to all of the images.

I love watching people like this teach the basics... sure, you can do this too.... if you buy my $2000 light kit and have 3 assistants... bah.

It was cool to watch how the different projects went & gave me alot of ideas. Definitely need more helpers? Of course he was selling his wares, I had told my wife and our friend that went with us to expect it beforehand, so it came as no surprise.

Gave a really great look into what it takes to shoot the way he does.

i was at the dallas one and i enjoyed it. i picked up one or two bits of specific info that will help me....mostly on softbox options for my quantum. that was worth $19, and i really didn't want to sit thru the commercials while watching "lost" anyway!

I think I got my money's worth. Had dinner with the "guys" and Renae before hand which was fun. I will be trying more custom white balance and metering from now on. He uses a very simple technique that I could wrap my arms around.

I got my money's worth. It validated some things I had been thinking about and gave me some great poses and also background ideas.

I also saw Mike and Cody (from TriCoast). I probably should have had them autograph my Rangefinder which has an Collages.et advertisement with them as posers.

I went to the Arlington one and met a bunch of TPFers (great to meet ya'll by the way) and I wasn't sure what to expect. I picked up a few tips but since I shoot alot of sports, there wasn't too much there for that area......

I felt like I paid $19 to watch an infomercial. At points there was some very useful information, but it was gone over so fast and with such shallow detail that I don't think I got much out of it. No doubt to make time to pitch yet another product. I expected it be more instructive.

And the DVD appears to be more of the same.

I was captivated by the number of people who showed up!!

It turned me on to trying constant lighting. I haven't done any studio work since the film days, so it was interesting and helpful to me as I've been thinking of getting back to the studio.

I left at the break though. Seemed likely that I could learn as much from the DVD as sitting in a crowded room watching videos...

I kinda felt the same but I did pick up a few pointers and ideas. If anyone was expecting a "workshop" you aren't going to get that for $19.00.

All in all it was a good night out and met some interesting people. I don't regret it.

Good stuff for $19!

The show I watched after the seminar was best, though. Tricoast sponsored a small one afterwards. Cody put on a workshop on how to pick up vendor reps. It was a private showing, but a showing no less....and really, no more.

I attended the Arlington session, and really wasn't disappointed. It was nearly worth the $19 just to play with some of the Canon cameras and lenses the rep had without any sales pressure. I expected that it was going to be a hard sales pitch on all the other stuff.

Seeing photogs in action (even if they were on video) and learning someone else's techniques for manipulating light was icing on the cake. Haven't watched all of the freebie DVDs yet, but the parts I've seen have some neat stuff.
