Cool East Lake Lewisville Location? - 02-06-2008, 08:12 PM

Hello

Does anyone know of a spot on the east side of Lake Lewisville (The Colony or just north of there) that is not a park you have to pay to get into or is not someones back yard? This would be for sunset shots and/or some night photography shooting west into the fading light over the water. I thought I had found a great spot behind a soccer complex on 423 but the road down to the water had a little hut with a sign on it barring entry and threatened a fine if caught. Does the government keep missile silos down there or something...?

Anyway, any help would be appreciated. I just discovered the forum and have enjoyed browsing it.

Thanks!

Pat

There are two golf courses on the East side of Lake Lewisville and both of them are great locations from which to shoot.
One is at the end of Boyd Rd, which is North of the location you mentioned above. Follow that road to the end and you will find the Tribute Golf Club.
The other is a 9 hole golf course, Stewart Pennensula Golf Club, near the end of N. Colony Blvd. You will see the sign for the club before you reach the end of the road that ends at a paying park.
All of the parks on the East side, Peir 121, Stewart Creek Park and another one I can't remember the name, are open this time of year without charge. At least when I have been there. Even when there is a charge like $8-$10 that is not much for a great location.

Hey thanks Michael! I will check those golf courses out. I guess they will just let you walk past the golf course to the water?

I will have to go see if the parks are free right now. I hate paying to get in and then the light turns out bad... :-(

Go further west. Closer to 35W, out near TMS. Out on FM 407.
