OK, that would put it out of my dining room :D
Here is what I would propose.
A very hands on type 'demonstration' where I talk about, setup, and have
you shoot three basic studio lighting setups:
1. Single light + reflector low key setup using different modifiers. Umbrella, softbox, octobox. Shoot several different scenarios moving the light and reflector to see the way the light and shadows interact.
2. Two light setups + reflector low key. Add a second and or third light to provide fill and/or hair/rim lighting. See the difference between ratios of key to fill of 1, 2 and more stops.
3. High key with a white background. The full blown setup using multiple background lights, key and fill.
I'll also talk about the lighting equipment I use and how I came to select the gear I own. How much it costs, where to buy it, what would I do differently. My guess is that this would take three to four hours.
One thing everyone should know, I'm not in this to make money. I see this as a way to give back to the forum members for helping me learn. The only cost would be for the studio rental and if you want to get a model to pose. Having a model would be secondary, since we could use the attendees to keep the cost down. I would bring all my equipment so you can see what Alien Bee lights, Wescott umbrellas, and Manfrotto grip equipment is like.
Now if you STILL want to get together and listen to me blabber for a while and see how I make the images I post, let me know and I'll talk to David and see what his schedule is like.
It would have to be a weekend or evening since I have a 9 to 5 software 'job'...
I have to support the photography bug somehow.
