Lightning no-show + boredom = TPF in lights - 02-12-2008, 10:44 AM

This is something I'm going to do more of:

That second shot is a single big rig driving by. I lit up the crossing signs using my little portable light during the exposure.

Yeah and you never know what will work. That first shot took me ten different tries and was a pain in the arse. The second image took one shot and done. Go figure.

I really like that second shot as well. Thanks for the lighting tip on the crossing arms. I was wondering if the truck lights did that.

Joe, awesome. When you say you lit up the crossing signs with your portable light do you mean you illuminated the crossing signs with the fenix during the exposure and thats what you got?!

Yep, that's it exactly. Once the exposure started I waited until the truck went by and then turned on the Fenix pointed toward the sky. I then moved it down low enough to light up the crossing signals but not low enough to touch the ground (I had practiced this once before). I only had the light on the signals for a brief moment.

Joe, Bravo! Both shots are real winners - great use of light and long exposures.
