D3 First outing - High ISO's - No Flash - 02-16-2008, 06:02 PM

These photos were taken at the Dallas Autorama show on Feb. 16th. The lighting was flourescent, most all the shots were between 1/60th and 1/125. Auto-ISO was turned on and 85% of the shots were greater than ISO 3200. The lighting conditions were tough.

I am impressed with the D3 and it sure outshines the D2X that I also will keep shooting with.

Very nice!

I really need to do more available light work with my D3.

Nice shoot.
It is hard enough to shoot reflective surfaces without having to add flash into the mix.
The D3 gives you a lot more flexibility than the D2X for sure.

Nice shots! The lights there added a neat pattern on the cars, I think.

Man that camera takes nice pictures HAHA just kidding I like the composition of these shots. The different shapes and colors YOU captured are very pleasing. and ditto on the lights reflecting on the cars (esp. the orange coupe on page 1) Looks like a wicked pin stripe job!

Thanks for the comments. I really wanted to find out how well the D3 would do under difficult conditions. What was amazing, was the low noise at ISO's. If you pixel peek you will see some noise in some of the photos. I am going to Las Vegas in the near future and will toss the D3 on the tripod and go after the strip at night. Actually, my D2x will do well with proper exposure so it will be a toss up on which body makes the trip. I do not plan on many day shots on the trip. The D3 has met most of my needs within the scope of the real world.

Very nice shots.

Being brand new (read: days) to the DSLR world with my new Canon 40D, I used the show purely as a learning experience. I was just getting a feel for the cam, so my pics didn't come out as well as I would have liked. I was also too busy staring at the cars so much that I didn't take too terribly many pics either.
