How to find the meeting place.
cajun angel is correct about it not being "technical". The only learning opportunities are the workshops, which I should do, but haven't done. They have two main workshop, the table top and model shoot. Don't know of a camera 101 workshop. Just had a basic photoshop class.
If one wants to improve your skills the only way is to participate in the contests. The problem is that it’s a slow process, have to wait for the feedback & need to stick around listen to the judge’s comments. Half the people usually leave after the speaker but the only way to learn is to sit thru the judging. The main thing is to enter your (2) pictures every month, they only name the top (3) in each division so if you don’t tell anyone your picture came in last no one will know.
amathews59 you will not feel stupid because no one will ask about your camera knowledge and no one brings a camera so no one will look down there nose at a p&s vs a bag full of Cankon gear.
dlanter I’d guess 90% of the group are amateurs, so it’s not a snobby group at all.
There will be a speaker, that’ll run about to at least 8p, 15 minute break, and the photo contest starts. That’ll last till 9:15+ if the trains are running on time and the judge doesn't ramble on.
I’ll be there so if find someone who resembles this passport photo say hi.
