sometime during the morning this Friday Feb 29th.

I'm sorry, I don't know a lot more specifics than that at this time.

Galcier Girl is a WWII P38 Lightning Fighter.

Here's her story.

I'll make a point of getting over there and hopefully get a photo or two.

Could anyone suggest a good vantage point? I'm not familiar with the base, but I'd love to get some shots of that plane. I didn't even know one was still flying. Also, tower frequencies?

There is an unofficial viewing point at the eastern end of the western section of white settlement road ( yeah confusing ). It is just off the road to Lockheed and is next to the departure end of runway 35. If the field is north, this is a good spot to see arrivals and departures. If the field is south, this is OK for departures, but not arrivals unless they are making a low approach first. If the field is south there is a better place for arrivals. It is a sensitive area, so I don't want to just broadcast the location. PM me if you are going.

from memory, I think the tower vhf freq. is 120.95

Thanks Tom,

I'd like to go if I can get a rough idea of when...

So why is it flying into the area? Is there an airshow I don't know about?

This is public knowledge. The P38 Lighting and the f35 Lighting 2 will be on display for the employees of Lockheed Fri. 29 Feb. You might see it (P38) come in and leave but you will not be able to photograph them together due to location of static display.
