I have been talking with the bands management ( Dropkick Murphys) and they are cool with me shooting them, but they told me that they would have to see about getting a photo pass.
I know it will be no flash, and only for the first 3 songs.

I shot their once.

Had to sign a release for the HOB which seemed overly restrictive.

i.e. You can display the images online so long as they contain the text "Taken at House of Blues Dallas on XX/XX/XX", and then it says you can only leave the images online for X number of days...

They also do allow flash, but it's at the bands discrection. Just talk to whomever is at the front desk and they should be able to help you out.

Did you get a photo pass, or just bring your gear in?
Did they let you up front or did you stay in the back.
When I shot Social Distortion years and years ago, they made me stay by the soundboard.

Ha the box office is clueless half the time honestly. The band has to leave you a photopass and if they tell you they will leave you one and dont you better be sure you have a contact number because they wont do anything for you.

I shoot for the paper and our contact is with the venue we get cleared with the artist. And for One Republic they didnt have our photopass so I had to wait and wait and wait and I wanted to shoot the first opening band as well but they kind of squashed that for me by taking so long to finally get my pass.

They wont let you in with a pro cam without a pass. However they have become lax on point and shoots. They've stopped caring I guess.

Yeah, when I hear back from Dropkicks management and say I am good to go, I am going up there that morning and make sure everything is cool. I don't know if they set up the photo passes when the band arrives, or the management company contacts the venue and says I am cleared for the pass...

Sweeeet, just got a e-mail back from them !!

Hi Michael,

We will leave a photo pass for you at the door, under your name on the night
of the show.

These photos are for personal or folio use only and are not to be sold or
sent to any media outlets nor are we transferring any copyrights to you.

Also, please send a link to the photos or files to us after the show so we
can post them on the band's website.

Thanks,

DKM

The bands management will give them a list. Just so you know you have to have a ticket to get in as well as the photo pass. So you may need to line that up if you dont have one yet.

House of Blues, neat. I've been to the one in New Orleans. Didn't know they had one in Dallas. Good deal

Nice - how big is that place? It must be a lot bigger that I thought.
