Question Portrait Location Suggestions - 03-28-2008, 11:12 AM

Hello All,
Looking for good places to photograph portraits. I love bold colors but any and all suggestions will be appreciated. Anywhere in the DFW area would be awesome - Dallas, Lewisville, Denton.
Thanks for sharing and best to all.

FW Botanic Gardens are always a good choice.

Deep Ellum is great for bold colors - lots of bright walls if you look for them. We were there a few weeks ago:

You want to go where everyone else goes? I don't get it.

I've gotten good results over by Old Alton Bridge and Little Chapel in the Woods in Denton. In Lewisville, you could try the Lewisville Lake Evironmental Learning area by the Lake Lewisvile dam. It's only $3 a person to get in on Friday Saturday and Sunday and there's a lot of different areas out there to shoot from woods to wetlands to mesquite savannah to grasslands out there. Theres' a little park tucked way back up in Coppell that's real pretty that's rolling and grassy, a few wooden bridges and a nice creek that runs through it.

Depending on the type of shoot, the UNT and TWU campuses have nice fountains, ponds, landscaping and architecture. Lots of trees for nice shade, too. Little Chapel in the Woods (per Mike) is on the TWU campus. Also, downtown Denton has some possibilities as the square has historic buildings and old worn ones on the fringe. I also love the old houses (like on Oak Street), but you'd of course have to get permission to borrow a porch or something.

As for Fort Worth, it's used a lot but the Stockyards area offers rustic Western charm. And it can be good for urban shots because on weekends it's less congested than downtown Dallas. Grapevine has trains, wineries and the Gaylord resort (but another thread notes that it costs $1,500 to shoot there!).
