Hotels for Boudoir? - 03-28-2008, 07:29 PM

What are some of the hotels that you have used and liked? I've shot several of these most are at their home if that have a great bedroom and the rest have been out of town at a B and B.
Why did you like them? The space, the furniture why there?
We once did a unpromted one in a church in the bridal room.

Sandra,,,IMO, seen one, seen'em all. Ok,,,maybe the more upscale ones have a little more pizazz (which cost more) but all in all the furniture is basically the same and the pictures on the wall, nightstands...bla bla bla. It really works your creative juices huh?
Have any friends or family that will let you use their place; or the model may have one?
I even shot in the Hilton and wasn't impressed...same layout.
If the model is good then she can do well anywhere. Heck, put her in a hay loft and let her work her magic. BTW...you have a nice website and nice work.

I could envision sexy shots in a junkyard moreso than a church! I've got no experience with it, but it seems like any reputable place will do. Nicer hotels have furniture you can move slightly (although they probably don't like it when you re-arrange the place).

The benefit of a posh setting is that the bride may feel more at ease if there are fancy clean sheets and it doesn't smell of old cheese. I think that's been the case even for normal location portraits; clients don't understand that lighting is more important than a background, but they don't want to pay me to take photos of them in the garden section at Home Depot.

First Christian church!
What I want is hotel rooms with room in them and not so generic furniture and window light. I need to drive around. I was thinking the W, Hotel ZaZa is good .

You might look into the Hotel Palomar off 75 and Mockingbird. I'm not sure of prices, but they are a very modern, artsy kind of hotel. As a bonus, they have a great restaurant/bar on location.

Hotel Zaza is the BEST. I have a client that wants to do Boudior and I mentioned that hotel and she said she and her friends would get the hotel if I could do the shoot there. I'm going to bring my H&M artist with me for 4 hours (1-hour each person), then they will get to enjoy their look and the girls night out after I'm gone! :) By the way, if you are looking for a hair AND makeup artist - Kristin Colaneri (www.kcolaneri.com) is by far the best in town. NY trained for film and theater. She knows her stuff and comes with a fabulous professional attitude and a lot of spunk.
So, perhaps you could suggest that to your client and get a few more people to go in with them, get you more business and some A M A Z I N G photos... the Bohemien room is magnificent.

I've used them before with another photographer but don't let them know what you are doing they frown upon it but so do most hotels. I want a room with textures colors and if possible good window light.

We've worked with Kristin before for weddings she is good.

The idea was going to be to do at least 2-3 in a day that would more then pay for the room and our time. I did forget about the makeup person.

I haven't been in a NYLO room but I know of some people that have. But I absolutely love the lounging area of the NYLO bar it and would be great for some shots if they gave the a-ok.

It just opened in Plano or onthe edge of Frisco a upscale hotel. I thinkit's on Preston and Legacy. Go to their web site the rooms look fantastic.
