Need suggestion for Wildflower photo project - 04-05-2008, 12:11 AM

Has anyone found a good spot for bluebonnets and other wild flowers in Tarrant County or western Dallas County that are not right next to the freeway? I have some photography students that are interested in finding a nice field of flowers to photograph for a project.

Thanks

I heard that there may be a good spot on FM 917 south of Fort Worth. Has anyone seen this location to know if it is worth the drive?

there is a location here in duncanville near an old furniture store (went out of business) off of camp wisdom and it is in the wide open that has a lot of blue bonnets but not sure you want to come all the way out here

This may only give you locations near highways, but here it is anyway:
www.txdot.gov/travel/flora_conditions.htm

TxDOT also has a hotline number you might find on the site.

Yes there is a good spot on 917 East of 35. However I'm not sure if they let you take pictures there or what it looks like so far this year. If I get a chance I'll see if I can swing by and give a report.

I thought bluebonnets only grew next to the highway. You know like gorilla's only live at mobile home lots.

The best place I have ever found is in Ennis. They have a bluebonnet festival that I have been takign my daughter for for years. This will make the 5th trip down there.

They have a 'trail' you drive on and there are numerous fields with thousands of them. Google bluebonnet festival and texas. You will see the link for Ennis.

I drove past the 917 site today. It's looking good, not as good as las year yet, but good. I agree on the Ennis festival. We've gone the last 2 years and will be going again this year. Here is the link.
