Storm Damage 4-10 - 04-10-2008, 08:49 AM

Hey guys, thought I would upload some of my storm damage photos. The ones here are from Park and Preston, where a contractor's trailer from the old Wal-Mart lot was thrown into the Car Spa. The Luby's next door got their signs ripped off and their roof damaged. We did get real unlucky, the Plano red light camera is still there. We got here while the Plano FD was there putting the tape around the scene. Sorry, I didn't get to take much more, as we went out after this and helped remove trees and stuff from the roadway so people didn't hit them in their cars. I am still without power at my place, so I'm sure I'll need to PP once I get the juice turned back on. We recorded winds of 83 mph. Enjoy.

I live just about a mile east of there near Park and Parkwood. It took me 20 minutes just to get onto the toll road because the police had the entrance at Park closed forcing traffic to go north before entering at Parker. It was a mess all over from Plano Parkway up to Spring Creek.

My roomate uses a LaCrosse weather station. I'm trying to find the model # he has, but I bought one for my dad for his birthday, it's the Weather Channel edition.

I heard about that. I woke up at 4am to tornado sirens and emegergency thing on tv telling me a tornado was forming in Frisco and heading to McKinney. That's the second time in about 2 weeks. My daughter's school was on lockdown a week or two ago because a tornado was supposedly heading right our way. We got lucky here though. No damage right around me. An 18 wheeler was flipped over on 380 which is the way I go to my daughter's school, and the airport was supposedly hit hard. My ex said he was taking the boys to school and saw a trampoline crumbled in the middle of the street. Long night, and now I'm tired! Such crazy weather lately! And, a lot of it seems to be happening in Collin County these days...lucky us!

Those storms started near my house in Abilene yesterday. I grabbed the camera on my way home and drove about a mile down the road to get some pictures. About that time, the clouds turned around and moved back south (they had been going northeast). Right after I took this shot, a swirling gust of wind hit me. I looked up and the clouds above me were twisting VERY fast. I put it in D and got the heck out of there!

Guess I got a little too enthralled with the beauty of the storm and let it get a little close. The cloud went on by and later dropped the tornado that hit Breckenridge. Just glad I wasn't along for the ride.

I got this shot as the cloud skirted my neighborhood. Another swirling gust ran me off just as I took this shot too. I think God was trying to tell me to put down the dang camera and get in the house. I couldn't pass up the Dead End sign though.

Take heart, it's not just Collin County. I live in Cedar Hill and woke up to the sirens at 3:45 this morning and we were told to take cover for the second time in 2 weeks. Just like you guys up north, we just keep getting pounded by these storms. I need to head back home to see if there was any damage, could not see any when I left for work this morning but it was dark out.
