Favorite/Prettiest Park in Plano? - 04-17-2008, 12:38 PM

Anybody have any good suggestions? So many parks and I just moved to Plano a few months ago so I am not familiar with what the best may be. Most of what I know is further south.

Thanks!

nice little park is the one by 15th street dart station.

ALOT of stuff going on there, you got the dart, the farmers market, the meat market, the barber shop next to the meat market (seriously fun bunch of guys there, someone should do a study of them). also 2 art gallerys nearby and all the little storefronts.

Haggard Park in downtown Plano is great for photography.

Further east off of Park is Bob Woodruff park. We go there frequently.

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is another good one...especially now that the wildflowers are blooming. It's west of Midway on Parker Rd.

Bob Woodruff Park on Park near Los Rios is nice also. Lost of wooded area around it for a nice background.

Ken,

You've got a great model and a nice photo. The only problem is that it is slanted to the right about 25 degrees. The water should be flat... not running downhill from left to right. Straighten it, sharpen it, and bump the contrast. <constructive criticism>

Actually, the picture (to me) is straight on, but taken at an angle. Anotherwords, the camera is parallel to the ground, but facing the water at an angle. Also, the girl's shoulders are slumped.

Awesome, I wasn't really expecting C&C (and wasn't planning on hijacking the thread) I just wanted to give a quick pick of the park. But... I will take all the C&C I can get. The camera is straight within a couple of degrees but the waterline is curved, giving the illusion. Regardless, I think it would be beneficial to rotate it slightly to remove the illusion. Concerning the posing: This was my 6 year-old daughter hamming it up for Easter Family pics after church, and I just couldn't resist.

Thanks for the suggestion, I shot at the Haggard Park, nice location there.. Thou there was a group that congregated in the gazebo exactly the time I got there, so couldn't use it.. Oh well, it was a 1 yr old I was photographing so I did a lot of close ups anyhow!

Not really a park but the grounds behind Pallisades II [2435 N. Central Expressway] has mature trees, a neat rock wall, waterfalls and ponds, etc. I work in the building and so far as I know, they don't have a problem with photographers as long as you don't let little kids out on the rocks in the water.

Poor focus behind the camera creates as many bad photos as poor focus through the camera!
