Took a ride towards Ennis Sunday to check out the Bluebonnet Festival. Never made it all the way there. I got off at Ferris and took TX 660 south as I wanted to take the scenic route. Pretty slim pickings. I stopped by a lake that had flowers in the foreground but was fenced off. As I was shooting, about 2 dozen cars stopped by at various times coming from Ennis and said the lake was the first decent thing they had seen. They said there was nothing around Ennis.
When I finished, I just headed back to Dallas. I think the information was right on given the variety of sources I was getting it from. Better luck next year. Maybe they will come out later, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
I did see a great spot on 635 just north of the I-635/I-20 merge. It was on the east side of the road. Didn't catch the exit as I already passed it when I was all the cars pulled over on the service road. There may be some left that haven't been trampled.
Some shots from my trip:
As you can see, the fence is quite efficient.
