Suggestions/Inspiration Needed for Eagle Scout Photos - 04-24-2008, 01:04 PM

Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't been on much lately, we've had a ton going on at home. A large part of that was my son finishing up his eagle scout award. It's finally done, and I'm wanting to take some pictures of him in his uniform, with neckerchief and award so that I can include pictures to family members that won't be able to make it to his ceremony. I'd also like to have an enlargement done of our favorite photo to have on his memorabilia table for the reception.

I want to take some pictures outdoors, but truthfully I'm not sure where I should go or what poses I should try to acheive. My son's been backpacking in Philmont twice, and has over a 100 nights of camping, so I really want something outdoors.

Suggestions? Inspiration? It would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to take pictures in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks in advance!

Things that make him look proud and hero-like .. low angles.. wide vistas... I'll try and find some examples later.

Maybe try some at Sid Richardson Scout Camp... Looking out over the lake or something?

My suggestion would be Worth Ranch in Palo Pinto. It's the most picturesque scout ranch in North Texas. Some pictures down by the river would be nice. If you're up to the hike (about 1 mile) you could get some great pictures from the top of Kyle mountain with the valley in the backgroung. And, if you have enough lens, a picture of him standing on the rock bluff on Kyly mountain taken from the valley below.

If you don't want to drive to Worth or Sid there's a nature preserve in Cedar Hill that offeres great outdoor scenery.

What was his Eagle project? If something physical and photographable, it would be a natural to get him next to the project.
