Few shots from FTW Zoo - 05-09-2008, 08:34 PM

Some of these have been edited and others haven't. It was a really nice day at the zoo this past sunday. The cool temps made some of the animals active and others not so much. For some reason the lions weren't in a very playful mood but maybe next time.

Comments always welcome ( all shots were taken with a 500mm f/8 lens)

Thanks for the feedback guys always nice to get it. I did get some great expressions out of the animals even more so with my silverback buddy. He always gives me the shots i want everytime im there, i just wish people would stop yelling at him among other not so nice things. Just makes me so mad to see what people think is ok to do.

Is it me, or does that silverback at the FW Zoo seem to follow people shooting long lenses with his eyes?

I've caught him doing that more than once...rather amusing, like he's hamming it up or something...

Actually, he doesn't like being stared at. I had a photographer tell me that he once picked up a rock and hit another photographer in the head with it... that might be a photography tall tale, but I have seen him get really grumpy with people watching him for too long.

Well i have never had him throw anything at me or even get angry and i have watched him for as much as an hour. I think he has come to know me and whenever im there i pull my keys out shake them a little and almost always he comes over where im at. That is unless a crowd of people are there and they are making noise or doing things they shouldn't do. I clank my monopod when i want his attention inorder to get a shot. So far in 10 trips to the zoo he has never shown anger toward me so im a little shocked at the story but these are animals and they can never be trusted 100% either.

Haha the silverback there just ignored me...in fact most of the animals did, but there were lots of people at the zoo that day so that might have played a part *shrugs*
