More FW Cats pics - 08-17-2005, 11:47 PM

Here are some of my shots from the Fort Worth Cats game that me and Joe went to. I love going out shooting with Joe, but the downside of that is his pics come out so damn good that I hate to even look at mine .
But that is O.K because Joe is a great guy and is a awesome photog. We had a blast.
Tuesday's game was a double header and the first of the 2 games was Bobby Bragan last as a manager. He is now in the record books as the oldest man ever to manage a professional baseball team. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/a...ives&fext=.jsp

Bobby Bragan

I have no idea who this is.

This was shot in the last game and the cats were down 6 to 1 or something like that.
I think this guy is bored.

They did have fireworks after the game and that is always fun to shoot.
We went to a spot that Jerry had showed me on the 4th O' july to shoot the fireworks. so if this shot looks like the one posted back in july that is why.

We had a great time, and if you have not gone to a Cats game then you are missing out on a good time. Here are some more from the game http://www.pbase.com/thejakestir/fwcats

Super nice job Jake! Were those with your Tamron or something much longer? That's a nice fireworks shot, too... I still haven't been able to do that quite right!

Thanks Rozzie! The fireworks was the Tamron, and the rest were the 80-200 f/2.8L and pretty much all @ f/2.8, but the fireworks were like f/7.1 or f/8 or something like that.

*drool* I really really really want the magic drainpipe, but seriously, I already have 2 lenses that cover that range. Pictures like that make me want to turn into a lens collector!

Nice shots! Don't be too hard on yourself, they look great. I look at shooting with Joe as a learning experience.

Nice job on all the pics. I can't seem to pick a favorite, but I'm leaning towards the last one. He does look either bored or downtrodden.

Cool spirals on the fireworks pic too.

Yeah, you're being way to hard on yourself, these are terrific shots especially the firework shot, spectacular (you were right when you chimped it, it was the best of the bunch). And the shot at first base came out great considering it was 11pm at night and we were getting no help from the stadium lighting. Great action shot.

Just so the rest of you know, idiot Joe was working in manual focus mode and when the fireworks started going higher in the sky I adjusted the camera and not the focus and have 30 shots of blurry lights. Duh.

Thanks everybody for the nice comments!
I am to hard on my self sometimes, but I was happy with the shots posted. I need to do my Daily Affirmations like Stuart Smalley on Saturday Night Live "I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, I can use a camera".
