Highland Village Balloon Festival - 08-19-2005, 10:39 PM

Unfortunately it was too windy for the Balloon Glow.

A large crowd turned out and the pilots put on a show with their burners.

The Remax Balloon made a valiant attenpt, but gave up shortly after this shot.

The Lady in the Fire

The Burners were impressive when they were all lit off at once.

It was nice seeing you again Jerry. I got a couple of shots of the Remax balloon, but that's it. I did go get some night shots of the carnival rides. We'll see how they turn out.

Hey Jerry,

Those look spectacular! Beautiful captures. I'm sure the HV organizers would like to see these.

Nice meeting everyone. Hope to shoot with you all again soon!

John,

You caught the only glow I saw this evening. It lasted, what?, 2 seconds? Well done!

I like the rest of your posts on pbase too. Really good.

Can I post here too?
I only met a couple of you tonight, but had a great time, nonetheless. I was disappointed that I didn't get to see any actual 'balloon glows', so I really appreciate the REMAX photo above.

Here's just a few from me. Not many keepers, I'm afraid.

Oh, and these are straight out of camera. Resized, border added......that's all.
I love my 'new' camera.

I am amazed at the photographs that came out of tonight and fully agree that we got to use a lot of different skills tonight which only added to the fun.

Here's a shot of the HVBF gang (or at least 6 of us). Thanks all for coming tonight, it was an honor to meet you all, I can't tell you how much respect I have for your skills.

PS. See you in Plano next month!!

We arrived a bit late so we missed a lot of you. Got a chance to hang out with AjP for most of the evening though. Took most of my shots with a wide angle tonight for a change...Bit bummed that there was no balloon glow...Got there at the tail end of the fire show. Was experimenting with shooting fully manual and had a lot of fun!

The last picture had to be the youngest member of the TFP contingent. That's dab94's junior photographer with tripod!

Hopefully, the Plano version will be less windy (and it'll be closer to me too!).
