Where is the best place in DFW to get an 8x10 image professionally printed. I sold wone of my prints, and want to get it done by a lab instead of at home.

well, I'm usually print on MPix or Millers, depending what quality do you want. I don't know any professional lab in DFW...

The Color Place (972) 233-3693 is in downtown Dallas. I've never used them but I know some folks who have and were happy with their work. BWC (http://www.bwc.net/home.php) has a location in Richardson and one in Dallas. I've never used them for a digital print but I have had some B&W film developed and printed there. They did a good job with that.

I'm currently having my prints made at the Camera Stop in Plano at Parker & Preston. They use a Konica Super R1 minilab.

Check them out at http://www.camera-stop.com All of my 11x14 portfolio images were done there.

I was very happy with BWC on the MF b&w they did for me. But every time I've taken something there it wasn't ready when they said it would be.

I use Mpix (or Miller's) too. Then again, I live out in the boonies and it's a PITA to drive to any of the nicer labs. MPix quality is just what I usually need (just got the Miller's access) and they ship it right to you.

I'm with srwatters, Camera stop in Plano. Jeff is a pretty good guy, they do very nice work, $2.39 for an 8x10 on a Konica machine. Good color BUT watch them on contrast, they tend to blow out highlights even if your levels are correct. They printed my portfolios and were 1/5th of BWC prices.

BWC will be cheaper on larger prints Jeff said but for 8x10 and smaller it's hard to beat prices and quailty. Turn around is fast too. Take you tax# and save sales tax.

the color place never failed to disappoint me with their lousy work and poor customer service. give bwc a call... i use the north location and have been very pleased with their work. if your closer to downtown, i'd give photographique a try... they are top shelf too.

Pounds Labs at 901 Regal Row in Dallas is an excellent lab. Also there is City Color, Color Place, BWC and others that don't come to mind at the moment.

Have used Pounds for many years and have done excellent work for me.

An annoying thing about camera stop for me is that every time I go in there they always try and sell me something I don't need.

For the record (and one pro's opinion)... I used to use BWC a lot. However, I will never use them again. Their prices are too high, the turn-around doesnt justify it, and the employee attitudes dropped beyond low.

The lab I use now will only provide services to pros, so I cant help you there. However, The Color Place comes highly recommended by a friend of mine.

If you want beautiful prints and can wait 3 or 4 days then check out White House Custom Color - www.whcc.com

They are a professional lab and do a great job and have great prices.

They have teamed up with Labprints and you can upload right from your computer.

Second on whcc - 10-31-2005, 08:21 AM

I use whcc and have had nothing but WONDERFUL prints and service. (Although to be honest, I just use them for 11x14, 16x20, 20x30.) For 8x10, I either print it myself or have found that my local Sam's does a pretty good job. (I profiled their printer and color convert the images before giving it to them. They know me there and now understand when I say that I want NO corrections, I mean NO adjustments.)
