Interesting vintage/retro location needed for engagement shoot

This is a discussion on Interesting vintage/retro location needed for engagement shoot within the Dallas / Fort Worth forums, part of the Texas category; I have a bride who is very "into" Audrey Hepburn, Doris Day, etc. She wants some very stylized engagement images ...

Interesting vintage/retro location needed for engagement shoot - 06-15-2008, 10:50 PM

I have a bride who is very "into" Audrey Hepburn, Doris Day, etc. She wants some very stylized engagement images shot...very 30s/40s...and she has the hats to go with it!

I have a few locations I'm checking on, but would love to know if anyone on here has spotted any interesting architecture -- preferably INdoors -- that would lend itself to this type of image.

It could be a hotel...a restaurant...an office building -- anything...

Thanks!

Maybe the Dallas Railway Museum at Fair Park? Old rail cars (I think you can go inside some of them, too, or have her coming off the steps of one) make for a great backdrop, especially the old shiny passenger ones. You'll probably at least have to pay admission, but might also see about any other permission you need to use it.

I'm thinking somewhere on west Camp Bowie, maybe near Will Rogers.

Not terribly cheap, but somewhat reasonable... $150 / 2 hours for portraits

Or for the same price, Thistle Hill

In Fort Worth, still:

This isn't conventional, but the building is an old house (I belive it's over 100 y/o) that's done completely in a dark wood, and the staircase is beautiful. As far as I know, the only use of the upstairs is for the bathrooms, and you might be able to come to some accommodations with the Hedary family to take some pics. I'd highly suggest scouting this place out, beforehand. (Not a terribly bad thing to have to do since the Lebanese lunch buffet is tasty!)
