I have the opportunity to work with a Landscape company for their photographic needs. They have two houses ready to go, and I am not certain as to what I should price this out at. What ever my final number is will include the actual time on site as well hours for editing, delivery and format they are needing. This has the possibility to be an ongoing gig and may get as far as putting together presentation books, etc.

Thoughts on starting rate? I was thinking $100 to $200 per hour.

One problem with hourly is the customer may decide at some point you are being slow just to pad the bill. I've always liked flat rate quotes better since there can be no questioning the bottom line. Good luck.

I agree with Leo. Not only does something along the lines of a total project cost (maybe based on a "half-day rate" or "day rate") will protect you and your customer from knowing exactly how much something will cost. For larger projects, you might offer a "week rate" that covers your work over several days.

Make sure to factor in a little profit or your venture will be an expensive hobby. There's a huge difference between $100 and $200 when figuring your costs.

Good luck!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I did not think about billing as a total project vs hourly...that is why i asked.
