I am going to be photographing a family next Saturday morning and am needing to find some good park type locations. I am looking for some parks in the Richardson/Plano area that have some nice backgrounds etc... I drove around Richardson today and could not find anything that was nice. Does anyone have any suggestions where I can take the family, especially for a morning shoot? Any help would be great, thanks! | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

West Prairie Creek has a great waterfall, playground and bridge. All these shots are within a couple of minutes of each other. A lot of photographers use this spot for the obvious reasons, but I think it's pretty clear during the magic hour on weekdays.
The pictures below were taken there recently. Here are directions if you're interested:
From Campbell Rd and US 75.
- Take Campbell west towards Richardson Hospital.
- The first light will Collins Blvd. There is a 7-eleven to your left.
- Stay on Campbell and go through the light and make the first right past Collins. That’s W Prairie Creek Drive. If you hit the light in front of the hospital, you’ve gone too far.
- The park will be on your right. You’ll be going a ways down W Prairie Creek Drive.
- Keep going on W Prairie Creek Drive thru all the stop signs. the park is across the street from Ridgewood. The waterfall will be on your right.
To get better directions from your home, you can go to Google Maps and type in “Ridgewood Dr and W Prairie Creek Drive, Richardson, TX” You can also get a street level view of the park.
If you come in that way, you will see two bridges before you get to the waterfall. The playground is on the far side of the first bridge.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

I think your best bet would be the waterfalls at the Prairie Creek Park in Richardson.

Forgot to mention that the morning is great because the trees are to the east and throw good shade so you don't have be there first thing. There will be other photographers there on Saturday. You'll just have to work around each other.
This shot was taken early in the morning in early spring.

I agree with others about Prairie Creek.
Here's a thread with pictures from a while back when I was asking a similar question. http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...=Prairie+Creek

You could even try Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano. It's off Park (i believe, if not the Parker) and Dallas North Tollway. Just west of the tollway. You should be able to google the website. Last time I was there, someone was photographing a senior under a bridge.
Don't have any pictures, as I am at work.

I have pics from Arbor Hills.. it's amazing.
Both sessions were mid morning, like 9:45 - 10:30 AM, so the light was already pretty hard, so a reflector may be a bit of help.

Nice shots, Brandi. What, you couldn't find an attractive subject to shoot? | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
