Air Hogs Park Grand Prairie PD vs FD

Hi folks,

I am somewhat of a lurker, been a member for a couple of years (Jakestir recruited me at a FW Cats game). I am a baseball umpire as well as an aspiring photog. I take a TON of pics of my umpire buddies, but have very few of me on the field. As the saying goes, the cobblers kids have no shoes!

Well, I have been asked to umpire a game at the Air Hogs field on Saturday morning (10:00) game. The game is a Grand Prairie Police Dept vs Fire Dept, should be some pretty bad baseball (compared to the usual occupants of that park). If anybody would be willing to "practice" taking some sports photos, and some of the grumpy umpire, I would be willing to return the favor when you are participating in something and want some pics, or need someone to carry gear for you.

I'm just throwing this out there to see if there are any takers. I umpired pro baseball last year, and have very few pics to show for my year in the minor leagues.

Since coming back from my season, I've taken a more aggressive role in the photog world, I've even posted a few threads on this board with images from Lone Star Park.

Again, I can't really pay for your efforts (I am donating my umpiring time), but thought someone might like to get out of the house for a little bit and shoot at a VERY nice baseball park in the D/FW area.

I saw the press release come out of the city of Grand Prairie... is that this Saturday, June 28?

That is correct, it is this Saturday. I met you at the game last Sat vs Shreveport. I am the guy that was shooting down the 1st and 3rd base lines. We spoke a few times, during the game. I have actually put all my umpire gear away for the summer, but thought this would be a fun game (I am also a former Bedford Police Officer, many years ago).

I appreciate it, I just talked to the other umpire, he wants to work the plate, so I'll be the one in the field. If you make it, go down by the first base line and I'll introduce myself. Again, I appreciate it (even if it turns out you can't make it).

And exactly what do you base that on? Have you been out there? They are drawing surprisingly well.

Friday night the 20th had maybe 800 people. The only night that seems to draw a halfway good crowd is Thursday. They base attendance on season ticket sales, not what actually shows up.
