I am planning on going to the Dallas area the first of August for a dog show and have a extra morning to go take photo's at one of the zoo's up that way. But I have never been to either of these zoo's so from a photo opportunity which zoo is the best?
Thanks for the replies
Debbie

I haven't been to the Dallas zoo in years, but the FW one is great!

Another vote for Fort Worth! It is one of my family's favorite places!

Be sure to go early. With this TX heat, the animals are more active earlier in the morning...kind of like me.......LOL

Fort Worth's without a doubt... Besides being a better zoo and very camera friendly, it is in a much safer part of town than the Dallas zoo...

I prefer the Ft. Worth Zoo over the Dallas Zoo. Plus over by the Ft. Worth Zoo you have the Botanical Gardens, and the Water Gardens

many of the photos in this thread were at the FT Worth Zoo http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=76969
I was there over Memorial Day weekend, and a friend in the area said that the Dallas zoo had an elephant die and it's mate was real mopey. Heard great things about FTW so we went there instead.

Anytime I've gone to the Dallas Zoo it's always seems REAL dirty...Not just dirt and whatnot but trash everywhere..So Ft. Worth is probably a better bet..

I have to say that I actually like the Dallas zoo. But then, I grew up in Ft Worth and never went to Dallas for a zoo until 5 years ago or so. The monorail ride($2.50 extra) is really cool and you can snap pics of animals in their native habitats.
Likes: The Penguins, the Gorilla enclosure, the hilltop full of animals, the chimps, the otters
Dislikes: The tiger exhibit, the reptile house, the butterfly house, the lack of an aquarium (The Dallas aquarium is in fair park), the mesh cages that prevent good pics of many animals
Fort worth has it all over Dallas in regards to the tiger exhibit, and Ft Worth has a white tiger that's absolutely beautiful. The lionesses in FTW are really pretty, but the male lion looks pretty sickly.
