Good place to buy appliances in DFW? - 07-15-2008, 05:11 PM

We're selling our house, and it looks like we need to upgrade the kitchen. We want to put in stainless appliances, and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on where to shop other than the usual suspects, like Sears, or their outlet store in Grapevine Mills Mall.

Need:

Cooktop (electric)
Oven (electric)
dishwasher
in wall microwave

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

We've usually shopped at other usual suspects, such as Home Depot, Lowe's or Best Buy. Many of them have deals on installation and delivery that can tip the price in your favor. I know some people who have had good luck with Conn's, but that place kind of gives me the creeps.

We've got a stainless dishwasher (inside and out) that we really like. But because you're selling, you might consider the "clean steel" appliances that have the look of stainless without the proclivity to scratch or collect fingerprints. You'll get the impact of stainless but save a few bucks. Our next refrigerator will be clean steel because unlike stainless it is magnetic. And what's a fridge without crap stuck all over it?

Fry's actually sells appliances for a pretty good price. (If you can deal with the 'treat you like cattle' mentality...)

Texas Appliance in Arlington on W.Pioneer Pkwy. Great selection best prices. I bought ref,w/d, and wine cooler all cheapest in DFW. note: these were very good brands.

Not sure why Conn's would give ya the creeps, you can save a ton of money there. We've been shopping there every since they opened the store off Central and Royal some years ago. A few years back we had to gut our kitchen because we had termite damage. We decide to go ahead and completely change everything, new look = all new appliances. We went to the "regular" Conn's in Mesquite, then to their clearance center next door. Here's what we paid for the scratch and dent appliances we bought (just to give you an idea of what you can expect $$$ wise), you cannot tell there is any damage from looking at them once they were installed.... Might be worth a little drive to check them out.

Frigidaire – all Professional Series, Stainless Steel
Side by side fridg - $2200 retail, asking price $950 paid $800 (has a small scratch on the side)
5 burner gourmet gas range with convection oven $1800 retail, asking price $450 paid $350 (back left side pushed in a little, no damage inside)
Built in Microwave with vent less vent-a-hood – We didn’t purchase it at the clearance center but because we had been long time customers and had just purchased all the other items at the clearance center we got them to knock off $50. $400 retail paid $350

Kitchen Aid – Stainless Steel (inside/out)
Dishwasher with disposal $1200 retail, asking price $300 paid $200 (no damage, was a floor model and didn’t come with the instruction book but I printed one off the net)

Good luck with the upgrading and the sale of your house Tom!

North Texas Appliance and Sratch and Dent in Rockwall. We bought a top of the line Kenmore washer, which has a dent on side (which you can't see) we got if for about $300 off. They delivered and hooked up for $50 extra. Really helpful. They have a regular show room and a scratch and Dent room. Here's their information:
