DFW Airport - 07-24-2008, 11:36 PM

Since our good friends at the White Settlement Police Department decided to wall off our access to shooting jets at NASJRB Fort Worth, I made it over to DFW today and shot some at the temporary Founders Plaza. . .

If you're lucky, something other than an American MD-80 will fly by.

Nice of W.Settlement...

Can you still shoot over at that park on the North side? I got a few decent shots there while they were on approach for landing. Too often they were a bit too close. Got some interesting shots of the insides of landing gear though... LOL

Sorry to hear Keith. That's tragic, what a great resource that location was!

So where is this new location at DFW? I'm close enough by that'd I'd like to check it out.

Great shots! First one is really sharp.

Are you speaking of shooting at Lake Worth??? Yes, that is still fine. I may still shoot there from time to time. And you're right about getting nice shots of landing gears. Not the sexiest shots for fighter photography.

Thanks Joe. . . here is a map to the temporary Founder's Plaza. It's off Airfield Drive, just west of north remote parking.

Roy, here is a map to shooting jets in Lake Worth. Keep in mind, this is only when they are landing north to south. You can get no shots of takeoffs from these locations.

another good spot is at 7800 Calmont, it is actually the baseball fields and soccer fields for the Western Hills little Leauge. We play there in the spring and there is a good spot to snap a few jets as they are coming in for landing.

You cannot get a good landing shot but you can get a good up close shot fromt hat location as they are coming down.

the fields are just south of 30 exit from 30 and cherry lane

White Settlement says you can still shoot from the previous area if you walk in. Of course, parking your car 1/2 mile away and lugging cameras, chair, radio, water, etc. is a little less convenient than sitting in your comfortable air conditioned car.
I'm not grouchy, I'm pissed.

I kind of like seeing those S-80's fly by.

Nice shots.

I have. As long as you can get good and high you'll be OK. They installed a 2nd fence so it will come into view if you're not high enough. Fortunately I solved that problem with my latest vehicle purchase :)
