Open shoot downtown Dallas - 7/26/08 - 07-25-2008, 09:44 PM

Having an open shoot Saturday morning at Thanksgiving Square in downtown Dallas. Starting around 9:30am. As of now there are approx. 4-8 models, both male and female, and MUA. This is TFCD, street/urban style photos. We need more photographers!!! If you can attend, just come on out. You can email me at BYork@BigDphoto.com or text me at 972-571-7394 if you have any questions.

Thanks!

A little more notice might help next time. Maybe 24 hours instead of less than 12.

well..I got there at 9am, waited until 10:15. Was supposed to start at 9:30. Nobody showed up, nobody called, and just checked emails and nobody even sent a message saying "hey I couldn't make it"!!! There were 8 models total, 6 female, 2 male, and 1 MUA that said they were gonna be there...no problems. I guess I learned a good lesson today. Maybe even TFCD/open shoots should require a cash deposit that can be refunded if they show up after booking the time. I drove over 45 minutes to get there, gas is still not that cheap....paid the $5.00 for parking, and came away with nothing but a few photos of some buildings. Thanks for offering to come out folks...I appreciate it.

Sorry.. but I have to laugh a little bit.

E X A C T L Y why I don't shoot that stuff anymore. E X A C T L Y.

Kids these days (kids that think they are models) don't value any one's time but their own and have not been taught the common courtesy of calling to cancel. Those that have these manners and professionalism are actually out there making money, not playing pretend MySpace model.

Rant over.

I had done great on these types of things in the past, except this time I posted on ModelMayhem.... not anymore. Whenever I have posted at OMP, or even asking for a model on Craigslist of all unlikely places, I had no problem at all.

I'm not a super photographer, ranking among the nations best or anything...but I do know what I'm doing, I do produce quality work, and I certainly deserve more respect than what I got yesterday.

I sat back and laughed as well later on last night...but still upset when it was over.

Photographers serious about their work spend thousands of dollars on equip., hours upon hours of training for that equip., use of software, etc..., then they have to sort through and do all the editing, all the models have to do is show up and look good. It is easy to see who really gets the short end of it all when you look at it that way.

Think I will stick to paid work and weddings for a while to help me cool off and get over this bad experience.
