Keith, Is his one of those panorama photos? Reason I ask is I see a change in brightness on a diagonal in the center of the photo. The left and right don't seem as bright to me. Just wondering what might of caused that?

yep. . .you got it. . .it was my failed attempt at a panorama shot. . . . this was taken from a hill on top of Loop 820, just north of the base. . . . 300mm with the 1.4 teleconverter

hey Keith,

a suggestion.

download this free software.

http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html

If you shot this pano set in raw, try to adjust the WB and exposure the same for each of the images. If you can't adjust them don't worry too much about it.

Run them thru Autostitch. I think you will be amazed at the result.

cheers,

run Autostitch at default values in the "Options" just to kind of see how things are going to come out, and if you need to adjust one of the images a bit. The default values don't give you a very good quality image, but is very fast and useful for first blush type runs.

When you are satisfied, go into "options" and set the % and quality settings up to 100%. if memory serves, there are 3 settings to change.

start the stitch and go off and get coffee. it will take awhile to do the assembly, but worth every minute. (hopefully your PC is faster than mine).

give it a try, you have nothing to lose.

BTW a lot of jets flying today, maybe they are going back home?

Thanks Jerry, I ran it and replaced the pic in my original post in this thread and it looks tons better. . . . as for the flying today, they could be heading back home. . . especially the jets in from Florida. . . .the Louisiana and Mississippi planes may stay another day maybe . . . .

The new panorama looks great! I'm still trying to figure out where you were standing when you took the shots. Trying to spot any landmarks.

They were leaving in droves yesterday (Tues) I suspect there will be more going out today, but I also imagine the boys from La. and Miss. will have nowhere to go for quite a while, unless they redeploy to Fl. or Ga.

What sort of portable radio do you suggest for the best coverage of local events ??

Darn, sorry I missed all that. . . . of course whenever there is a hurricane in the gulf you can almost count on the base here getting some evac aircraft. . . .Alliance also gets some. . . . As for portable radio, are you talking about a scanner???. . . when I spot at NASJRB I use a little Radio Shack Pro-2052 . . . . Is that what you are referring too?
