Hey all -
Was going through some of my dad's old things and came across a box of yellowing slides - all dated 1969 - they look like an old promotional slideshow set from NASA for the space program - pics of the astronauts, JFK, LBJ, etc. I was hoping to find someone with a nice slide scanner I could use to get some high-rez digital images of them.
Not sure if they're worth anything, but there's some really interesting images in there - it's a set of about 20 or so. I'll try to scan a couple on my flatbed and post up for you guys to see.
D.
Anyone have a quality slide scanner I could shamelessly bribe the owner to let me use for a few adult beverages?

I could be talked into it.
However, mine uses SCSI as the interface. Also, I am out of the country until the 16th.
PM me and we can discuss when & how.

Daylon,
Check with Don Barnes... he has a Nikon CoolScan 4000 (I believe that's the one he has).

I have a Nikon Coolscan IV. I could be bribed into scanning a few slides, although not this weekend, as I'm sure my husband has made big plans for my birthday tomorrow. :-D
Was your dad with NASA? Jim Lovell's daughter was in my sorority (her nickname: Space Cadet) and Pete Conrad's son was a year or two behind me. Trinity had lots of NASA kids in attendance at the time.

Here's a few samples from my flatbed scanner -
They're very yellow I threw em into Lightroom and converted them to B&W - - they're all dated 1969 - looks to be an ordered set of the space program - some sort of promotional piece maybe?

Sorry, I sold my Nikon scanner a while back.
These would be interesting to see larger. Someone here should be able to help.

Many space related stores, and tour sites sold boxed sets of slides, which were already copies themselves. Check this site for photos, you may be able to get better originals for download. http://grin.hq.nasa.gov/

PM responded to. There may be a copyright issue involved here.
Edit: I just checked the GRIN site from the link above and it says that most NASA photographs are NOT copyrighted. That kind of surprises me.

I'm not trying to make money off them, just preserve them digitally - not sure how long slides last but they're 40 years old and pretty yellow....
Although it would be cool to have some large prints of these, or at least show them online...little piece of history. Quote:
