I seem to recall that they had a closeout sale of equipment and I drove by and saw the building has a "For Sale" sign on the corner. Any one have any idea what happened? Was it just next generation of the family didnt want to continue it or went out of business or what? Inquiring minds want to know...

My information was that due to Mark's disabilities, he couldn't continue the day to day activities needed to keep the stuio going. As far as I know, they are still looking for a buyer for the "business" portion. I went to the equipment sale and he had a few LARGE items still for sale i.e. Large size studio camera platforms, etc.

A nice guy who tried hard to get the job done the best way possible.

Answer to my own question. After I posted this I looked in the Fort Worth Business Press. Apparently the Business portion has been bought and just within the last day or two. It was bought by Till Hekel who also owns Smiley's Portraits. From what the article said, Mark is staying on as a consultant.

Didnt say what was happening to the building though.. what a great address.. Photo Road.

Yeah, it's a great location with a great building. Perfect for almost any kind of commercial work.
I don't personally know Till Hekel, but he did just beat me out of a gig downtown with an absurdly low ball price. As a friend of Smiley Irvin I am aware of some problems with that purchase as well.

Oh well, that's business !!

I know Till HEZEL and Smiley Irvin. They are both really nice guys. Till has a great head for business and he has bought more than one Ft. Worth business over the last 15 or so years. It is hard to sell a business that you spent years building and walk away with only sweet memories.
