Last Minute Get-together/Shoot - 09-07-2008, 03:04 PM

I find myself sans family this evening, and nothing to do. I'd like to head out and shoot some night shots of either Dallas or Fort Worth skylines. I'm pretty flexible about time and place so I'm open to suggestions as well.

Anyone care to join me?

Well, I finally got a couple processed. Over all I am not happy. Not every sign is in focus and readable. But most are. I am never happy with my night lights shots they just never seem right

Looks good to me... We had a lousy sky to work with, those clouds never came in.

I like the shot, Janice.

I'm never truly happy if I'm in Dallas.

I just always want, what I am unable to produce. I have 5 of the 7 signs in focus but the other two I can't even read. Unlike some of us Terry did a great HDR. Wonder if he would get ticked if I posted it?

I'd do a night shoot in Dallas. Now that I live in the White Rock Lake area, it's a lot closer than it used to be.

These are nice pictures. Please let me know what is the exact location that you shot from. I am looking for a place where one can park the car and leisurely photograph the Dallas downtown skyline without being too close to the road and cars whizzing by. Thanks

These were taken from the Trinity River levee just south of Trammel Crow Park. Take the Wycliff exit south from I-35E. The name changes when you cross Irving Blvd but just keep going over the overpass. The park is just ahead on the left and there's parking a few hundred yards farther down the road before you get to the next overpass. You can shoot from the park but there are lots of power lines. In this location, the treeline almost completely block them out.

Poor focus behind the camera creates as many bad photos as poor focus through the camera!
