engagement session locations - 10-16-2008, 10:12 PM

Well my brother has called and I will be doing an engagement session for him over the thanksgiving weekend. I'm making a list of possible locations for the shoot such as the Arboritum and the Gazebo over in Highland Park. Both of which will do but I need some ideas for indoor locations in case the weather doesn't cooperate.
Thanks

Most indoor locations charge from $50 -$500 for an hour of shooting time. The Gaylord at that time of the year is so very crowded and it will look like Christmas inside with all of the decorations that they put out.

Gaylord is also WAY more than $500.

If they want a downtown area, I keep thinking Thanksgiving Square in Dallas would be cool.

That's true they did go way up. Bass Hall is now $300 and they were $150.

Stockyards in Ft. Worth can work for both good and bad weather.
Good weather - Kimball outside - botanic gardens $ - water gardens -
bad weather - ???

If you end up paying $300 or so, you may as well try the Stoneleigh. Shoots vary from $350-700, but if you can shoot in the Presidential Suite, it is amazing!! I've been in a number of presidential suites, but this one is very different. There are a variety of rooms that have such history, and it has an incredible balcony with views of downtown, plus the rest of the hotel is very chic. Other than that, I would suggest the Marriott Solana for free and indoors. It's more for bridals, but it could be used for engagements. Typically, the Gaylord charges $1500 for a bridal, not sure about an engagement. Also, the Stockyards is another good indoor option. I can give you a link, if you want, for my most recent series from the Solana.

A nice restaurant ... you might have to eat there to get permission, but you can get some intimate ambient-light shots. Or a bar. Or a supermarket. Or somebody's living room. Or an old laundromat. Or a junk yard. Or a playground. Use your imagination!

Pick a nice part with a lot of "stuff" and do it there... there are tons of places... just get in your car and drive around scouting stuff out. Don't pay for a place for an engagement session.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm in the process of moving so once that's done I'll start scouting locations. I want to do the outdoor sites I had mentioned in op but want some options if the weather doesn't work. Leslie I would like to look at that link. Thanks
