TCU Recognizes History - 10-21-2008, 05:38 PM

This is my Father-in-Law who was inducted into the TCU Letterman's Hall of Fame along with the 1938 National Championship Football Team. He played both sides of the ball and those years with the poor gear are probably what has his body in the shape it is now. He's 88 years of age and soon to be 89.
The induction took place on October 2nd so I'm a little late getting it on here.

This was a great day for him and the few remaining teammates. The way things are structured now, this may be the only Championship Team TCU will ever see.

There may be an interview on Channel 8 tonight depending on time I suppose.
We have the DVR set to record at all times. I don't know how to get that recording to something he could see though since he's in a nursing home.

Also wanted to share a little bit of the gifts he received. This has already been in the newspaper but I don't remember a TV interview.

He's #35 in the big photo showing the whole team.

Good for him Roy. That is a real treat for him to be recognized that way.

If your DVR has an output, you might transfer it to tape using a VCR. The home probably has a player, or you could take yours along to hook up to his TV.
Even a camcorder could work so he could see it!

Thanks guys. He's supposed to be on channel 8 on the 10 o'clock news. I turned on the vcr for the first time in several years. It works and what's even more surprising is I figured out how to set it to record.

He's definately excited about all this. I expect the interview will be real short.

That is really great.

You know, he still bears a slight resemblance to himself as No. 35!

Thanks Todd. I forgot to mention that hat he has on is a Stetson. Each player received one from Amon G. Carter. It's still in great shape but the box he kept it in was shot. One of the family members wrote the company and they sent a nice new box for it.
