Fossil Rim Sunset Safari - 09-13-2005, 12:53 PM

Has anyone taken the Fossil Rim Sunset Safari? It's a dinner with the tour of the park in their open vehicles. We're signed up for the next one and I thought I'd ask if anyone took it and had any pointers.

Thanks.

havent done the sunset dealy, but we did do the behind the scenes tour. a few others on this form were there, this was a few years ago now.

if you have a mono pod take it with you, the open vehicles (depending on if you get a small jeep or the larger one) can get crowded so let those around you know you will be taking some photos and also let the driver know, if there is time the driver might hang out in a spot just to let you get a few more pics.

Fossil Rim Wildlife Safari - Behind the scenes tour - 09-13-2005, 03:08 PM

James is right the "Behind the Scenes Tour" is great fun!

I organized one a while back with a group of photographers from another site and we had a great time even with the rain.

It cost each of us aprroximately $50. plus lunch.

We shot most of the morning and we then had lunch at a local Italian restaurant.

Some of the images are here at my PBase galleries:

Robin - Great shot of the giraffe as tour guide
Thanks, Robin and James, for your replies. I'm looking forward to getting there. I am a little concerned that we're going to be starting the tour after the 6:00 PM dinner and that it will get dark pretty fast (sunset 7:30 PM), making good exposures tricky. But I guess that's why it's the "sunset safari". Maybe the vehicles will be mounted with high-intensity beams. I can always hope. But I do have two more car passes I can use (auction purchase) if there aren't a lot of good shots on this one.
