Where still have fall colors DFW area? - 11-10-2008, 10:11 AM

Hi guys,

I was out of town for couple weekends in a row and have lost track of what's happening around quite a bit... I just wonder where in DFW area would still have some nice fall colors? (I don't need red/red; but if it's yellow/gold, I will be very very happy and satisfied!!!)

Thanks!!!

Here is a link to some shots I took at Cedar Hill State Park on 11/1/08. Don't know what it looks like now.

Check out the Japanese Gardens at Fort Worth (near the Botanical gardens). One of the TFP posts is located at

Here's another thread for the Japanese Gardens. Went there this past Saturday. The lighting was harsh, and the colors were still a bit on the green side.

Japanese Gardens in FW is the only place that I know of that is reliable for fall color. The leaves here in this area seem to turn one day and drop the next.

As stated, the light in the gardens is very difficult IMHO, especially at mid day. A CPL is a help, but this is one challenging place in my experience. Try for the golden hours. As far as i know a monopod is OK, but taking in a tripod will cost you. Ask at the entrance.

Went to Japanese Garden last week. It was very colorful. Taken with monopod during mid morning.

Great shots, Mark!!

I was there a couple of weeks ago and the colors weren't nearly that good. Guess I have no excuse for not heading back out there now since it's practically in my backyard...LOL
