Night Shooting in Grapevine - 11-20-2008, 07:01 AM

This is not really a meet-up or anything, but I'm going to go do some night shooting around Grapevine tomorrow night. I'll probably be at the train station around 7 or so if anyone else wants to meet me. No real plan of attack - just wanting to walk around and see what catches my eye.

They've already got a lot of Christmas decorations up, which might be interesting. Also noticed that they've got a lot of tents and barricades at the train depot in preparation for the "North Pole Express" train rides on the weekends. I'm possibly doing a daytime shoot there on Saturday.

As for that, we went a couple of years ago and it was ridiculous ... made squirmy kids sit in a tent and go through a program instead of hopping on the train, all my son really wanted to do.

My wife and I might be interested in doing that. We are always looking for an excuse to go take some photos. Depends on what the weather is doing. Let us know what you are planning on doing. We probably will be there.

What am I planning on doing? I have no plan other than to walk through the town and try to find creative ways shooting ordinary stuff. I'm always challenging myself to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. A few others here have that gift (Joe Lorenzini comes to mind) and it's something that I want to learn to develop.

You mentioned that you plan to be at the station at 7PM. Is that the parking area near the locomotive or is it the area close to the Grapevine Main Street Entrance from Dallas Avenue (opposite the pub)? I'm interested and please let me know how I can identify the group.

Typically there are a lot of Harleys parked near the pub and a great place to start.

It's the parking lot near the train cars. As for identifying the group, just look for a bunch of people with cameras and tripods. This is really just an informal thing.

Dress warm should be in the low 40's with a 7mph wind but i will be there braving the elements lol. I might swing by DFW to see if i can get some sunset shots of the planes coming in.

Milind - Your exposure is great. I especially like the one coming out of the kiln.

It was nice meeting you and your wife.

I misread the date and thought it was tonight. Maybe I'll catch the next one.

Nice shots, everyone.
