On Sat we have Plano, Richardson, Dallas and I think there are more! So for those of you that have gone to these before, which do you think are the best. Any tips for locations, etc?

don't forget to come to Ft. Worth to LaGrave Field (home of the Cats) and see the concert, followed by a great fireworks show.

You can position yourself to get the fireworks with the city in the background

Starts at 6:30 Sat.

I would go to the Adolphus Parade downtown. Much bigger, with more floats and participants. Ride the rails and photograph at the very start down by the Old Red Courthouse. If you get there early you can go in and around the floats before the parade.

How early is early to see the floats?

The floats start lining up at 7:00. But the characters do not get on the floats until 9:00. The parade starts at 10:00. Here is a link to the map of the parade: http://www.childrens.com/parade/docu...rade-route.pdf

The lineup is on the shaded streets South of the start circle.
I like to view the parade near the start at Lamar & Griffin on the South side of the street. Good sun if it is out with no building shadows.
Then you can go over to City Hall if you want to see some things again.

Got out of working Saturday and here a few pictures. Pictures were taken with a 30D + 70-200.

Was up too early.

Glad I could dress for the weather.

Patching the leaks in the jester/joker, took ~hour to get him airborne.

Hardin-Simmons Cowboy Band.

Andrew,
Looks like you found everything all right. Did you enjoy it?

I used to go with my daughter and her drill team every year. Up at 4:30, DART to downtown at 5:30, prep then parade, DART home, arrive by 1:30PM. It was always a very long but fun day. Usually had a 2,000 - 3,000 images to sort. Loved every minute of it. Would do it again in a heart beat if my daughter was participating. Now she is dancing in college at Hardin Simmons. I did notice the Cowboy band you got. She was excited to see the picture.

Maybe we ought to do a TPF 'meet and shoot' at the parade next year. Anybody Game?
Leave a response and I will notify you of the particulars next year.

I enjoyed it and will go again if the weather is decent, like it was this year.

Few more Cowboy band pictures here and here.

I just went through all the parade images. Very very nice. It looks like they have more balloons than in years past.
