Eagles - 12-16-2008, 10:25 AM

I know that at some times of the year there are bald eagles up at Texoma, do they stay during the winter? If so, any general thoughts as to where to look?

Thanks

Follow up question, would my 300 2.8 with TC1.4 be long enough to reach them?

Generally, Bald Eagles follow the geese & ducks since they make up a good part of their diet. If you get into an area where their are flocks of geese and they seem to fly up for no apparent reason, keep a close eye out because it very well could be a Bald Eagle swooping in for the lame goose or duck. Also, keep an eye out in the tops of trees surrounding bodies of water.

The best place to spot Eagles at Texoma is below the dam when they are generating. They like to fish as the water is being released.

I usually use a a 500 + 1.4x but you may get by with a 300 + 2x. I would check it out first before investing in a 2x TC.
