The first one looks to be really soft.. its not really crisp/sharp and doesnt show "detail" .. Maybe its the lens you are using?? I like the composition on the second one!! I like the composition on the first one as well but there just seems to be a lot going on in that pic.. like the cars and street lights

First image is too soft for use. Maybe camera shake ? Good location and a good idea.
Second one is a great idea. Again, very soft.
Tripod? Mirror up? remote release ?

Maybe you'll tell us these were taken with a pin hole camera,and then we'll all go "oooh and aaaah" ?

Where were these taken from, The first looks like it could have been taken from my wifes office (OMNI Bank building)

I was on top of the Omni Building. It is really sharp on the print. There was some loss in the posting.

I've had this happen to me before. I now preview my post before submitting. Sometimes a pic will loose focus in the transfer even though its sharp on my hard drive. So, I make a duplicate copy and over sharpen just a tad to make up for what its going to loose in the transfer to the post. : )
