About 5 p.m.-ish shooting what appeared to be a senior on Elm Street? As I was driving by, I saw someone with a 70-200 lens and an assistant with a light stick in a parking lot. Just wondered if it was anyone from TPF?

We were down there last weekend. Was really disappointed in what has happened to deep ellum. It looked like a ghost town down there. All the bars seemed to have closed down. It was pretty dead down there.

Yeah, it's pretty sad. We live just east of Deep Ellum in the historical district. There are still a few restaurants going, but the economy on top of people's fears of coming down there is just killing most of the bars/businesses. I'm hoping that when they get the Dart Line running, which stops where the Good Latimer graffiti bridge used to be, it will help with another revitalization. You'd think having all those new condos/apartments just on the east side of Central would give them a lot of new nearby residents, but a lot of those projects look pretty vacant as well.

There is a really cool restaurant that is open down there that I would recommend taking a visit at. Its called Cowboy chow. Very good food and its pretty unique. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and chips but the sandwich was made with real grated cheddar and also had brisket on it. The chips were homemade also with a special spice on them. Should check it out. Its on Commerce street of of the back of The curtain club.

Been to Cowboy Chow. My favorite restaurant down there is Local - it's on Elm. Just has a tiny red neon sign, easy to miss (down by Rudy's Meat Market). It is excellent. I know the wife of the owner/chef of Daddy Jack's Wood Grill, so I try to get their name out there as well. It's consistently good. Haven't tried the pastry shop on Elm yet. All Good Cafe has a decent brunch, but a cool live music scene, as does Sons of Hermann Hall.

I saw Cowboy Chow when I was there last time. Was wondering about it, I will definitely check it out. To answer the original question: Wasn't me.

I think it was me. I was down there on the 8th, had an assistant and a stylist, and my profoto light kit (which could look like a "light stick" to some). It looked like a senior portrait, since he was 17 yrs, but he's a musician. I was wearing a camo jacket if I remember and was shooting mostly with my 70-200 2.8L in a parking lot.

Folks there are a number of photographers that still live and have studios in DEEP ELLUM that could have been shooting a number of things. The artists who have lived there over the years are still pretty much there (if rents have not chased them out).

I guess you missed my above post. That was me, I'm 99% sure. Was it by that big blue and white stars wall? That's where I started out, then worked my way up and down elm.

Yes, I'll bet it was you Jason. I don't remember which wall exactly - could have been the wall you refer to, but it on Elm in a small parking lot on the north side of the street, and the subject was a young guy, so I thought either a senior or a musician. I use the term "light stick" loosely - but noticed someone shooting with their 70-200 and a softbox on a light stand. We were just cruising by on our way over to hop on I-30 and head to Ft. Worth and when I saw you, I commented to my husband that it was probably someone from TPF, so nice to know I was right!

We live just east of Deep Ellum in the historic district, so I'm always happy to meet folks that are in the area. I'd love to find someone who did have studio space down there who rented it out from time to time. While there are some nice rental studios available on this forum, distance is a big negative. I'd love to find someone close by (or some people who would be interested in starting some type of collaborative studio setup).

Yeah, I had my photoflex softbox on my profoto acuteb 600r light kit. I was on the north side of elm at that time. These are a couple pics from the shoot...
