Just curious if anyone has had problems with security getting in a 100-400L lens. No restriction is on the website and when I called they said as long as it does not block the walkways or view of other fans. What they say and what happens at the gate sometimes are two different things. This will be the first season I have the chance to bring some larger lenses so any advise would help. Best place to take pics and not get struck by a foul ball? Thanks.

They're pretty lenient when it comes to fans taking photos. I've never had a problem getting a 70-200 into the ball park (haven't tried my 400 yet).

I have taken a 300 2.8 into the ballpark in the past, I didn't have any problems. I didn't risk the monopod, just handheld. I have seen others in the stands with 300s and even 400s with the monopod. I think if you just don't smack the folks in front of you, the ushers are pretty user friendly.

Give it a try. the 100-400, or the 70-200 are just fine.

I will be shooting from the balcony of a suite this year as well as from the field. I will probably rent a 200 or 300 for the field and a 400 for the balcony,Both will be on monopods.

Try sections 20 or 21 on the third base side or 31/32 on the first base side. I wouldn't go higher than row 12 with a 300 2.8 for some good portfolio shots. The usher in sec 20 is no joke and is pretty strict, even if you're a row away from yours she will check your ticket and make you move back.

You can get good single seats in those sections but you will be in harms way for fouls and bats! A kid got hit with a bat that slipped out of the batters hands last season right in front of me. It was scary so heads up, you take that chance if you get that close. Good luck and make sure you post your pics.
