I see that Joe posted some of his awesome shots from Pug Mark this past weekend, so I thought I'd throw a few of my own out here. Got some of the best shots I've ever had of Pookie.

And here's a shot of Shebah...

Boy, you were really able to freeze the action. Mine were taken at almost twice the speed and didn't come out this sharp.

Love the one with her behind the rock as well as the ones jumping over the rock. That last one of Sheba is great getting all four paws in the air and extended like that. If anyone's ever been to the tiger shoot, they can appreciate how hard it is to capture that one...

Good shooting with you again Wes.

Joe

Joe - I need to go back and check my EXIF again. To be honest, I think I might have been shooting with a faster shutter than I thought. I don't have the ability to check EXIF here at work, but I'll look at it when I get home.

As for the jumping shots, it's amazing what a few basketballs will do for ya.....

Also, what are your thoughts on the processing? I'm playing around a bit with Topaz Adjust and I'm on the fence as to whether or not I like the effect on these images. On the one hand, I do. On the other hand, I just dunno.....

I knew what you were going for with the processing as we had talked about Topaz at the shoot. Personally, I don't much care for it in this instance. I think the tigers hold their own and that you don't need to do much more than a little contrast/saturation work.

But that's just me. I'm going to play with Topaz a bit more tonight and see what it's all about.

Yeah, I kind of agree. I'll post up some non-Topaz ones tonight. I hope you don't mind, but I used the extra-special-super-duper-Lorenzini frames. :)

Nice captures, Wes. When I feel like I can get up at 4:30 a.m., I'll make it out there. LOL

I agree with Joe about the processing. Less is more in this case.

Here are some of the "less" processed images (using the Lorenzini frames):

Great images. I like the less processed ones a lot better. The last one is sweet! I love it. I'd be very happy to get shots like these.

Yeah, me, too. It's the frames that make the difference.

Don't kid yourself. Presentation is important. Whether it be subtle like a crop, a specific image size or more formal like a frame or watermark, the way you present your image for viewing can determine how someone reacts to it.

My personal preference has always been to display an image with a dark/black thick border around it. I find it enhances the color and allows the viewer to concentrate on the image content. The frame color is a personal touch (I really like what Abel does to his).

Anyway, I like these Wes. Those shadows play havoc and are fairly uncontrollable but hey, here we are critiquing tiger shots when 95% of the US can't get anywhere near the shots we can - ha! Talk about being spoiled!

Wes, while I think I appreciate what you were going for, I much prefer the 2nd set. Great action shots. Janice & I are going to have to go back while we still can.

Bring basketballs. 3 Of them if you can. Old cheap ones will do. They'll throw them in with the cats, which is how you get your running and jumping shots.

The frames had nothing to do with it for me. I guess I just like the part inside the frame to be more natural looking. The effect on the first set sort of resembles oversharpening. These photos are very good on their own!
