North Texas Irish Festival - 03-03-2009, 10:48 AM

The 27th (28th?) annual North Texas Irish Festival will be held this weekend in Fair Park. Information on the festival can be found at www.ntif.org

Opens this friday at 6. If you arrive between 6 and 7 entry is free. A great photo opportunity with dozens of Celtic music bands, Irish dancers, and other activities. Photos of past festivals can be seen on http://www.flickr.com/groups/ntif/

Great family fun.

I haven't heard of this yet. Unfortunately my weekend is full of homework so I won't be able to go. I wouldn't have any lenses to go with either as they are all being lent to my friend right now.

Life seen through the lens is an extraordinary thing.

I wish I'd gone Friday night for free. I've not felt this ripped off in a long time. Cost me (and Janice) $68 to park and enter for the opportunity to buy food (0nly after you get coupons at another booth - I hate that!) or crafts/Irish stuff. I've decided that the word "festival" in Texas means "sell suckers stuff!" I'm holding out for the Highland Games. At least they separate their entertainment and limit vendors and, oh yeah, they have "games" to watch and photograph.

Poor focus behind the camera creates as many bad photos as poor focus through the camera!

Not sure why it cost you so much for park and entry. I only paid $8 for park and $30 for two entry tickets. No I will admit that food costs are quite high, but frankly I've never been to a festival, circus, carnival where that wasn't true.

I also went to friday nights session (for free). This is the first year I haven't purchased a full weekend pass ($30/person), but that was only because Sharon and I were able to see all of the new bands we wanted to see on Friday and Saturday.
