Dallas area bluebonnets won't really be up for a couple weeks, you need to head down to Houston/Brennan area to get them now. (If you do some searching on the site Dallas locations have been discussed in the past but don't expect much this year because of the low rainfall over the winter.)

SW Dallas - 03-23-2009, 05:38 PM

Loop 12 South, Spur 408, Keist Exit is usually awash in blue. The drought has greatly reduced what is there now. Maybe some more will bloom since the rains came.(Saturday drive by)

That rain and the rain coming up won't effect the flowers much, just make the ones that came up a bit healthier. See not all bluebonnet seeds sprout every year, to have a good show you need a cold wet winter which we have not had in the state this year.

Did you know that there are bluebonnets up in Yellowstone? Yup and Alpine Type closer to the type found in the Big Bend and Gadalupe areas and not the coastal and prairie types found else where across the state.

Wonder what the Indian paintbrush will do this year?
