Thumbs down Tired of Incompitence in City Hall and Service - 04-03-2009, 11:30 AM

So putting up some photo albums.

What really roasted my butt is them replacing some sidewalks, that their own vehicles messed up several years ago, and they have been working on them for over 3 weeks now and still no clue as to when the concrete will be poured.

Also the proposed TAX PAYER FUNDED Hotel by the Convention Center, there is going to be a vote in May but somebody is already prepping the land for the Hotel and there is a big old sign saying this is the site of the hotel. (Please don't discuss the politics of it here).

The Bridge, a $15+Million Dollar service center for the Homeless, a Taj Mahal!

How the city killed the Farmers Market- one high dollar enclosed heated and cooled shed is totally vacant now of tenenats (of course I never saw what a furniture dealer was doing in there for a long tme) and even the one shed that is supposed to be local farmers had dealers in it (used to be all local farmers until the city fluxed it up 10 or so years ago).. Also big underground parking garage that i never see anyone parking in.

Two old historic buildings on ELM that they want to tear down to straighten Central to cut like 30 seconds off of people leaving downtown at rush hour. (hell just clear wrecks faster on Central!)

The Gulf Oil Complex that they want to tear down most of to make an on off ramp to RL Thornton when they expand it. (On the Texas Register of Historic Places and is currently housing many small businesses).

Some of these albums are not up yet but the photos are taken.

Just getting tired of City SCrew Ups that cost us $$$, my taxes are up over 50% in the last 5 years but the services are DOWN!

Paul,

I haven't been down to the farmers market in years, the last time I was there it seemed like a bunch of small farmers were nothing more than people who bought from the local suppliers

Come to the suburbs...it's slightly less irritating.

Sounds like someone should run for political office. BTW the Gulf Oil Complex is not a done deal. They can and should tweak the ramp location. Despite the flying dirt, the hotel may not happen. It's our responsibility to make the system work. Find a political forum to post to and go get 'em.

You didn't mention the police department, which is staffed with some excellent people but also has some real nutjobs who seem to make it a point to end up on the wrong end of a news story. Oh, and one more thing: Dallas ISD. Its motto should be, "We hire people nobody else would!"

Yeah hard to shoot incompetent police and administrators I am trying to just light a few fires and see what happens.

Yeah the hotel isn't a done deal but the $$$ already being spent is got to be paid by somebody and the parking company that owned the land before sure isn't spending the $$$.

As to the highway ramp it is still in the design stage but the more heat put on TxDOT the more likely that they will leave the complex alone.

There are other things such as trees planted in medians and then destoyed and no replacement trees planted, missing and broken access ports to utilities in sidewalks in deep ellum along with stone sections with missing stones/bricks. etc

There are a lot of things!

Well that is one place I know a little about. Most of the dealers buy from the over ripe sheds that belong to the produce company's around the market. So you are buying what the produce company's will not sell to the grocery stores. A lot of the dealers are Illegals that could care less what they sell you. the market has really gone down in quality but that is because of the way the city manages it. Sad really!! I feel the way you do about city managment

There's not so much political discussion going on, though the initial post was pretty political. Mostly just people knocking the farmer's market...
