Agreed,

I worked in hotels for years, once you pay for the room. As long as your not loud they are not able to enter a room, unless smoke is coming out or something illegal is happening in the room. I cant imagine photo taking being illegal .

Here's The Deal............. - 04-10-2010, 10:23 AM

From NYLO at Preston Rd. & Hwy 121 in Plano/Frisco.
Any photographer has to purchase a permit which gives you the right to shoot on the property on any PUBLIC area in and around the NYLO building/property from 8:00am to 5:00pm only, no shooting after 5:00pm for $117.00. You can also rent the Glass room/suite for $200.00 a night, stay there and NYLO will provide a complimentary food platter for you. As far as shooting in a rented room, if you bring a portable studio or noticeable photography equipment or an advertizing sign through the lobby you will be stopped and questioned.

They are really great friendly people there.

Now with that said, there has been, there is and there will be shooting at the NYLO in a rented room behind closed doors in my opinion. Use your head.

Thank you and have a great shoot.

NYLO is very nice to work with. They've changed their prices and rules. For $100 you can shoot anywhere in the common areas, as long as you want. For $200 you can shoot in the common areas and shoot in a room. You get the room for the night, and as Bob said above, it comes with appetizers. I shot a bridal and a boudoir there yesterday. They even moved vehicles and such for me so they wouldn't be in the background and allowed us to stand up on anything we wanted.

Oh, and there is no permit involved. You book it through the PR person or general manager.

Ahhh, that was you shooting yesterday. Correct, not a permit but a reversation as they call it.

You mean that if legions of scantily clad young women come to the front desk and asked where Captain Toms room is it would be suspicious ??
I'll take my chances !!

Yep, that was me. We totally forgot to put the chairs back. Do you work there? If so, sorry! I totally plugged you guys on FB. Oh, and if you are the one I reserve with, I need to make another reservation lol!

Oh, and just a note, if you want the best room for shooting in, room 428 (I think or 421, it's on the corner with lots of windows), it's actually another $100. The first room we got was waaayyyy to small, and I didn't like the second one, dark and not near as nice.

Nope, don't work there. I shoot there a good bit. We passed you in the lobby while you were shooting the bride in the square chair. The model and I were getting on the elevator to our suite. Never shot in 428 or 421, have to try them, need more glass light.

Great photographs you shot.

Great info, I shot a engagement session there last week and am was asked by the bride to shoot private shots. I'd like to see what some of you have been able to acquire from your shoots?

and just to clarify some things (i'm about to book a room for this weekend)...

for public spaces only it's that $100 charge...

if you want to shoot only in a room it's $200 and up. this includes a 'photography fee' and the room. you still get to shoot in the public spaces if you'd like (non boudoir type stuff).
