Anyone see that eerie dark cloud around Dallas tonight? Looks like a big black cloud rising out of the ground.....eerie. I tried to get a photo of it with camera phone as I didnt have my camera with me but didnt get a good photo with my phone. I am interested in seeing if anyone got any photos of it or not.

Yes they sure where. I got my camera out, however I had it on 3200 ISO and there where way too much noise in them.

It looks like that area that is touching the ground is a rain shaft (area of heavy precipitation) and there are lighter rain shafts as you go to the right along the cloud base. About what time was this and where were you and what direction were you looking?

There was a small dissipating thunderstorm just south of DFW airport this evening just after sunset. It fell apart as it lost daytime solar heating and ended up as a little rain shower somewhere around Irving if I remember right. It would have looked something like your picture it is last stages. I'm guessing that the darker rain shaft on the left side of the cloud was where the core of the thunderstorm might have been.

Saw it from Main Street. Shoot it, but haven't processed yet. I'll post if it turns out good.
