Okay, a bit of a shot in the dark, but I'm a complete newbie at photoshoots with non-inanimate objects (people, I think they're called) and after thinking about it for a while, I've decided to be cheeky and just ask.

I live in the DFW area and I'd like try and pick up some experience on how a photoshoot is actually run (model shoots, weddings, senior pictures, events etc.) With that in mind, I'm posting this on the off chance that anyone out there needs an assistant during any forthcoming shoots. Doing what doesn't matter to me (within reason!), what I'm looking for is to observe and learn at the same time as holding reflectors, coffee cups , etc.

(Almost) anything considered, no payment required.

Hope someone is out there looking. Send an e-mail or PM if you can help.

Thanks.

Hey Nevyn,
I have a shoot coming up that involves a 9 year old child and two dogs. Wanna help with that one?
PM me if you're interested.

What are you doing on Saturday? The Plano Photography club is having their annual outdoor model shoot, which I am attending and shooting. I was going to work with another member, Reuben, but he can't make it. I have to dig up the details at home, but I might be able to use an assistant. There are supposed to be a bunch of shooters and 10+ models there if I remember correctly. I'll know more in a few hours. Might be tomorrow since I have a shoot tonight. I'll PM or post to this thread.

I have a TFP shoot with a model on Friday morning in Deep Ellum.. I might be able to make use of someone to hold reflectors. Can't guarantee any shooting time with her, though.

What time Friday and in what part of Ellum. I live just a couple miles away and would be willing to offer a hand for no charge if the time frame is right.

Gee thanks guys.
Not wishing to sound unpleasant, but how about starting your own thread rather than hijacking this one?

Not having a good day.

Obviously.

The comments are still on topic, you were looking for someone to help, I posted that with the idea that if you were interested, you would PM.. DEM did and we talked about the off topic part off the thread.

As it is, my model Friday morning has cancelled on me.

If I come up with a need for someone again, I'll start my own thread in an effort to find someone who is having a good day that might want to help out.

Ok, everyone. Let's keep this nice.

What about if we start two new threads with stickies? One would be Looking for Work/Experience and people could post if they were trying to get more experience - for example Looking for wedding experience in Dallas-Fort Worth. Willing to work for no pay. etc. etc. (kinda like the classifieds). The other thread would be "Looking for Help" and photographers with oportunities could post there about specific shoots/opportunities with details or they could look at the Looking for Work thread and PM the photogs interested in that kind of work directly? It seems like more and more people are looking for assistants and looking for experience. This would give us an easy way to put the two together. What do you think?
